Plus a pool, sauna, breathwork, sound baths & more
Last updated: Friday, 27 March 2026
What if your workday included a saltwater pool, a sauna overlooking Table Mountain, and refined, unheated yoga designed to meet you where you are. You can also add breathwork, sound baths and other restorative sessions, all six floors above Bree Street. Light House Holistic is a wellness club, a place to move, work, pause and breathe – and (unlike a gym) you don't need a binding contract to join.

It’s not somewhere you rush in and out of, but a place you can spend time. Image: Light House Holistic
Natural light streams through almost every glass wall of the studio. There are no mirrors, just space to move without distraction.
The yoga here is focused on presence, with poses held long enough to settle into and transitions which allow time to adjust and find your footing.
“You don’t have to look a certain way to be here,” says co-founder Robyn Schaffner. “It’s yoga designed for where you are.”
“We have a woman close to 60 who comes several times a week, a designer who pops in after his gym session for a swim and shower, a member with an annual pass who travels three months a year. It’s for anyone curious about feeling better.”

Light House isn’t about squeezing wellbeing into an hour; it’s about creating space in your day. Image: Light House Holistic
It’s not the kind of traditional gym you’re used to. Usually, you’d pay a yearly fee for access to facilities and get locked into a contract. Here you can sign up monthly, or drop in for a class, coffee, swim, work, and leave when you’re ready. Memberships are a saving, not a tie-in.
It’s easy to stay for a few hours considering the fantastic amenities. Next to the bamboo floor studio is a 13-meter saltwater pool, set on a terrace with cream umbrellas, greenery, and a sauna with an uninterrupted view of Table Mountain.
The terrace and lounge double as a coworking space with a deli that serves light meals like smoothie bowls and pesto sandwiches. Mornings unfold slowly here: yoga is followed by a smoothie bowl in the deli, working from your laptop, and a dip in the pool.

A single yoga class costs R240 and includes access to the lounge, pool and Wi-Fi.
All classes move at a slower, more considered pace, with a focus on alignment and how the body moves. It’s less about pushing through poses and more about building awareness and ease over time, making it accessible whether you’re new to yoga or deepening into it.
Aerial yoga, taught in hammocks, is also popular because it supports those lower back niggles and brings a sense of playfulness.
On Sundays, a longer 90-minute class leans into philosophy, meditation and slower movement, ideal for seasoned practitioners and those who enjoy a more inward, reflective practice. And there’s a special meditation class on Fridays, where you can simply sit and be guided.

You’re not just paying for a class, you’re paying for time, space and flexibility. Image: Light House Holistic
The studio is also home to a regular calendar of workshops and experiences. Breathwork sessions, one of the most popular experiences, takes place several times a month. Guided breathing, which lowers stress and regulates emotions, fills the studio.
If you’re completely new to this side of wellness, sound baths are an easy place to start. All you have to do is lie down and listen. Crystal bowls and gongs are placed at the centre of the room and create vibrations that settle the nervous system and promote deep rest and relaxation.
There are also meditation-based sessions and more specialised offerings like hypnotherapy for those who want to explore something different. To find the full schedule, check out Light House Holistic’s website.

The events calendar is updated regularly, encouraging people to return and explore wellbeing at their own pace. Image: Light House Holistic
At first glance, Light House Holistic feels premium, but in practice, memberships are priced to be more accessible than you might expect. What sets them apart is what’s included.
All passes include access to the pool, lounge and Wi-Fi (house access). Opt for a Class Pass to book yoga, a Sauna Pass for a heat therapy session, or the Full House Pass (which is most popular) combining yoga, sauna and full-day access. Aerial is a specialised practice with only 10 hammocks, and bought separately.

Light House also doubles as a private venue that easily shifts to suit any occasion. They’ve hosted launches for Sealand Gear and Dermalogica, wellness workshops for East Coast Radio, and even birthday sip and paints.
The studio hosts up to 80 people seated, making it ideal for workshops, launches, full retreats and smaller team strategy days. For larger cocktail-style events, the entire rooftop is available to you and expands the capacity to 120 guests.
The rooftop, pool, terraces and integrated sound system are included, with optional catering and bar service.

It’s a rare kind of venue; central, but removed. Image: Light House Holistic
Light House Holistic is located on the rooftop of The Barracks at 50 Bree Street. While there’s no on-site parking, paid street parking is available nearby, along with several parking garages within a short walk.
Some parking garages include:
The space is also easy to reach on foot if you work nearby, or via ride-share and public transport.

It’s easy to see why people return every week to Light House Holistic; it’s tight above Bree Street but removed from the rush. Image: Light House Holistic
Light House Holistic is a place to pause the day. In your work, for a swim, an intentional practice, or something more restorative when you need it.
Light House Holistic is open: Daily, 7am to 7pm (5pm in winter)
