The Full Monty is a pop-culture classic. This year marks 20 years since the film was released, and a local production house, wants to celebrate the film’s birthday with their extravaganza at Roxy Revue Bar at GrandWest Casino from Friday, 10 to Saturday, 25 November 2017.
The Full Monty, for those that haven’t had the pleasure, follows the story of six charismatic Sheffield men who decide to form a strip troupe, in order to raise money for a worthy cause. One of the characters declares they will have to go ‘the full monty’ in order to raise the money; hence the title. The comedy also touches on more serious topics like homosexuality (made even more poignant by the fact that the film was set in 1972), depression, unemployment, suicide, body image and impotence.

The local production of The Full Monty will see teacher and performer Laura Bosman in the director’s chair. The cast includes a host of local talent; Matthew Roy, Chris Laurie, David Wilke, Simon Speck, Wesley Figaji, Nathan Muller and more. As the cast explores adult themes, and uses some strong language, the show is not recommended for children under the age of 13.
As a special treat, on Sunday, 12 November 2017 the performance is reserved for ladies only. At no extra charge, women can elect to attend the no boys allowed evening, where they can spend some quality time with their besties.

TICKETS TO THE 2017 PRODUCTION OF THE FULL MONTY AT ROXY REVUE BAR
Tickets are available online via Quicket.co.za for R130/p. If you would like to attend the ladies only evening, please email the organisers on thefullmontyladiesonly@gmail.com. Get your tickets asap, as this production doesn’t come around very often.
We love a good stage play, and they don’t get much better than Shakespeare in Love at The Fugard Theatre. You should also check out our overview of Theatres in Cape Town.
