So one of your New Year’s resolutions is to get fit, and you’ve chosen running as your method. Now you’re one month into your journey and you’re bold enough to test your fitness in an actual running event.
The Spartan Harriers Firgrove Challenge is the perfect vehicle for this. You can join hundreds of runners in a beautiful setting at one of Cape Town most loved running events, and you don’t have to do the half-marathon!
Find out what suits you and join the Harriers as they wake up the sleepy town of Constantia on 2 February 2019.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The Firgrove Challenge takes in the best scenery in Firgrove and Constantia, but also takes on some of it’s most challenging terrain. Those doing the 21.1km half-marathon will bear the brunt of this on an undulating route through the hills. The flat and fast 10km route is more forgiving and there is also a 6km fun run for those more comfortable with shorter distances.
IF YOU CAN’T RUN, THEN WALK
In it’s previous guise as the Lion Of Africa, this road race hosted the Annual Philip Rabinowitz Memorial Fun Walk. Rabinowitz is famous for holding the record as the fastest 100-year-old over a 100 metres, and had a routine of walking 6km every day. Despite the event's name change, the Spartan Harriers will continue this traditional walk, with a 10km fun walk included on the programme.
HOW TO ENTER
Online entries close 27 January 2019. Entries cost R127 for 21.1km (unlicenced is R187), R67 for the 10km junior race (unlicenced = R92), R57 for the 6km fun run and the 10km run and walk both cost R87 (unlicenced R127). Get tickets at www.topevents.co.za
