If, when growing up, you heard the powerhouse vocals of singer Toni Braxton or knew all the words to crooner Kenny ‘Babyface’ Edmond’s heartfelt ballads then this concert tour is just for you. The dynamic duo are bringing their award-winning voices to the Mother City for the first time (as a pair) and will descend on the GrandWest Arena on Tuesday, 1 September 2015.
The sultry singer and hotshot producer were both household names in the 1990s and continue to remain in the hearts of hardcore R&B fans. In fact, both are long-time collaborators in the music industry with Babyface producing Braxton’s hit third album The Heat in 2000. The talented twosome combined forces in 2014 again to create a duet album called Love, Marriage & Divorce. The album was a hit and earned the duo a Grammy Award in 2015 and sparked a worldwide tour with stops in South Africa.
Fans can hear their idols live together for the first time in Africa, singing some of their new material off the award-winning album. For those not in the know, the duo have sold over 75 million albums worldwide as separate performers and will be performing hits from both of their catalogues. The concert is set to be popular so be sure to book those tickets as soon as possible.
And if you’re not in the mood for R&B soul session, check out the American guitar player with a South African fan base, Rodriguez ‘Sugarman’ coming to Cape Town this September.
