Join Tim Noakes for a unique breakfasting experience on Saturday, 9 August 2014 at Casa Labia in Muizenberg.
The renowned sports science professor will be offering a talk on the value of the Low-Carb-High-Fat (LCHF) diet – the highly popular eating plan with which his name has become synonymous, while a scrumptious breakfast that meets the weight loss regimen’s specifications is served.
His highly controversial diet promotes a revolutionary restructuring of our eating habits, requiring that followers forgo all carbohydrate-rich foods and sugar (including most fruits) for a medium-protein, low-carb veggie- and fat-based eating plan.
Noakes, who in fact developed the approach from the case study of undertaker William Banting (a corpulent man who lost considerable weight after being prescribed a carbohydrate-restricting, high fat diet by physician William Harvey in the 19th century), will be sharing his insight and his own personal experiences as they relate to the diet.
Those attending the event can expect a delicious Banting-approved breakfast of greek yoghurt with toasted nut and seed granola and strawberries; scrambled eggs with smoked salmon trout, cream cheese and fresh rocket; carb-free bread; Americano coffee; and a selection of teas and water with lemon and mint.
To book, contact the cafe directly on +27 (0) 21 788 6062 or cafe@casalabia.co.za. The talk starts at 9:30am.
About Casia Labia
For newbies to Casa Labia, the historic building is a national monument that was formerly home to Count and Countess Natale Labia. The building, which was built in 1929 to reflect the style of 18th-century Venice, is today home to a multi-functional cultural centre, a contemporary art gallery, a newly launched afro-chic CasBah Design Boutique as well as an Italian café.
