Things to do this Heritage Day

Celebrate Heritage this weekend, from Cape Malay to DJ Kent

Last updated: Wednesday, 20 September 2023

Every September 24th we celebrate the rich and diverse heritage of our country. And this year, it happens to be during a long weekend. From family activities and local storytelling to braai jols and groovy parties, here’s 7 ways to celebrate this Heritage Day.

WATCH A LIVE JAZZ SHOW

Why not celebrate Heritage Day with some truly South African music. Dust off your dancing shoes and learn how to swing at District. The dance lesson is followed by the musical stylings of the Pebble Shakers, who celebrate South African jazz through a performance highlighting the Echoes of Sophiatown musical project.

When: Saturday, 23 September; 8pm to 12am
Cost: R200 book tickets via Quicket; R230 at the door

The race offers 3 different events, for the athlete at every level. There’s a 10km road race, a 10km league walk and a 5km fun run. The start and finish points are both at Vangate Mall Sports Complex.
