The Great Walk and More Exhibition

An exhibition to attempt to raise a positive image of the area while bringing contemporary art into the community’s space

The Great Walk and More Exhibition will showcase newly created site specific and live art in the surrounding public area of Greatmore Street, Woodstock in Cape Town.

The Festival will be held over 2 days and will feature art works, live art performances, art installations, sound installations, projections, music and street performance.

Members of the community will transform their stoeps and shop fronts into individual galleries and exhibiting spaces. A curated exhibition will feature in Greatmore’s Gallery space and works created through 2 workshops hosted by Greatmore Studios will also be showcased as part of the exhibits. Other artists and galleries will be invited to collaborate by exhibiting their own works.

The audience will be encouraged to follow a marked pathway and walk around the designated area to experience an entirely different and unusual art Exhibition, while having the chance to explore this unique and fascinating community.

The event will bring a positive image to the area and its community encouraging visitors to return. The event will offer visitors who are interested in art something special and unique and will provide an opportunity for them to witness our strong community spirit and vibrant culture.

The exhibition will highlight the areas assets such as the people, architecture, local businesses and history of Woodstock. Visitors will have the pleasure to experience new and exciting art which has been integrated into the local lives of the community and will go away feeling they have experienced something fresh and exciting. They will speak positively about the event to others and this will increase further visitors to the area.

Times:  Friday: 18:30 – 21:00 | Saturday: 11:00 – 16:00
