Sports Fishing at Simon's Town

Want to land a trophy yellow-fin tuna this summer?

Sugar Snap (the organisers of this event) invite you to join them for a day’s offshore sports fishing adventure with their professional skippers, off the coast of Simon’s Town.

A 7am, the cast off from Simon’s Town harbour will start the adventure as you motor 20 to 30 nautical miles past Cape Point into the open seas and to tuna paradise.

Once out in the big blue you will tease the yellow-fin tuna (from 50kgs to the big boys weighing in at 120kgs) to get them feeding right next to the boat for a spectacular sight and a glimpse of these amazing ocean creatures from the boat.

Yellow-fin tuna’s robust, torpedo shaped bodies are a beautiful back metallic blue colour, changing to golden yellow sides and a silver/white underbelly.

This tuna fish is best known for its yellow dorsal and anal fins bordered with a black edge.

Hunting this formidable opponent on the end of a fishing line is quite an experience, and you may find yourself being tested to the limit as it sometimes takes several hours to reel in these fish! Kilogram for kilogram there cannot be a stronger fighting fish in the sea.
