New Year's Day: kick off the New Year fresh today

Wondering what to do on the first day of the new year (especially if you went big the night before)? We have found some great New Year’s Day events to suit every mood: Listen to live music (including Jesse Clegg) or challenge yourself with an escape game.

JAM TO LOCAL ARTISTS AT V&A 

Start your year off on a high note and watch a live music performance. The V&A Waterfront will be hosting another Take the Stage event on the first day of the new year. This event aims to give a platform to emerging South African musicians to showcase their talents. Sonik Citizen, a lyrical soul-rock trio fresh to the music scene, will be performing at Pierhead Deck. No need to book in advance and there is no entry fee.

CHALLENGE YOURSELF WITH AN ESCAPE GAME

Hint Hunt is open on New Year’s Day and you can play exciting escape games from 11am. The games include problem and puzzle solving and offer a series of themed rooms for you to choose from. Teams can be between 2-6 people and the price ranges from R590-R1 650. This is a fun way to start challenging yourself from day one of 2022. Book your next adventure now.

LIVE MUSIC TO CURE YOUR BABALAS BLUES

Durbanville’s Peppa Jack’s will offer the perfect cure for your hangover blues this New Year’s Day by giving you live music and good food. Performers include John McGuinness + Vince Lewis, Doc John and a mystery guest. Ease into your new year with 4 hours of great music, Tex-Mex foods and (maybe) some drinks.

GROOVE INTO 2022 WITH JESSE CLEGG

Jesse Clegg will be performing at Camel Rock in Scarborough on the first day of the new year, ending off his annual “Here and Now” summer tour. The event will be a tropical dress up and will include tropical lounge beats by Mrs & Mr Smith. Get dressed up and groove out to the first day of the new year. Book your tickets here.
