30 years of democracy, 10 ways to celebrate
British indie rock darlings and Grammy Award winners Mumford & Sons will descend on our shores in just a few months’ time. That’s right, the ‘I Will Wait’ hit makers will perform their emotive folk-infused tunes for the very first time in Cape Town at the Grand Parade on Friday, 29, Saturday, 30 and Sunday, 31 January 2016.
The band rose to prominence in 2009 with their debut independent offering, Sigh No More, which served as the parent album for their undeniably catchy and popular hit ‘Little Lion Man’. After touring the world and building a loyal fan base, Mumford & Sons soon became one of the most talked-about acts on the global music scene.
In 2012, the group went from up-and-comers to bona fide superstars thanks to the release of their critically and commercially successful second album, Babel. The offering, which spawned the infectious track ‘I Will Wait’, has sold millions of copies worldwide and was named Album of the Year at the 2012 Grammy Awards.
Now the band is travelling the world to to promote their latest album, Wilder Mind, which came out in 2015. Local fans have eagerly been waiting to see these folk rockers and can catch it all in the heart of the Mother City!
