Mitchells Plain is an area steeped in history, with a turbulent past that mirrors our entire country. It is a cultural hub, but due to social stigma, it is a culture that most will not experience. This is your opportunity to change that; on Saturday, 14 May 2016, there will be a movie screening at City of Grace Living Waters Auditorium in Belhar, for all to see.
The film (titled Mitchells Plain: The Movie - Change Starts in the Heart) will chronicle and depict real-life stories and experiences of both residents and visitors of Mitchells Plain, making it a very rare opportunity to see into this usually overlooked area and learn about the people that call it home.
There is a dress code for the premiere, which means ladies are invited to dress to impress in all white, and men are kindly requested to wear black and white.
The creators’ aim with the making of the movie was to touch and affect people who know very little about the area, and teach them that the stigma is false. With the film they hope to change the unflattering perspective from which Mitchells Plain is seen.
The movie stars Miche Gilbert, Sergio Miller and Anthony Walters (only to name a few). Producer Robin van der Byl is joined by Andrew Bennett (as Technical Director) and Renaldo Tarentaal (as Assistant Director) in the making of this very special insightful film. Don’t miss this limited opportunity to learn something new about an area of our beloved city.
TICKETS FOR THE 2016 SCREENING OF THE MITCHELLS PLAIN MOVIE AT CITY OF GRACE LIVING WATERS AUDITORIUM
Tickets are available online through Computicket.com, and cost R50p/p. This screening will take place only once, so make sure to get your tickets as seats are limited! The feature will start at 7pm, and will run for approximately two hours.
