What does an eclectic art gallery, the Guinness World Record, the Mona Lisa and an origami butterfly have in common? One hell of a weekend plan.
Every Saturday and Sunday over the next few months, the artist and Guinness World Record holder Jooj will create a new exhibition at Art Haus Gallery. You can watch, or join in and learn how to make an origami butterfly (it may just form part of the finished artwork).

As seen in the Guinness World Record book, Juanne-Pierre De Abreu (Jooj) is the record holder for creating the largest display of origami butterflies (29 416 to be exact). His artworks mostly consist of butterflies, with exhibitions like Idols & Time.
In this new work, “Reimagining the Greats'', Jooj will be recreating some of the most famous global artworks with origami butterflies.
Each artwork requires over 2 000 origami pieces. Image: Lara van Zyl
You can watch him work every weekend at Art Haus, his eclectic art gallery in Sea Point, or pop by once a month and see the progression of classics such as Girl with the Pearl Earring, The Kiss, Mona Lisa and Starry Night.
Art Haus also sells candles, clothing and other goodies. Image: Lara van Zyl
If you want to do more than watch, schedule a weekend session and learn the ancient Japanese art form by Jooj himself. He can take 5 guests at a time. Note: Long nails will make it trickier, but not impossible. After your lesson, you can take some of your wonkier attempts home and leave your best one for Jooj to add to the artwork.

Weekend sessions are available: Saturdays + Sundays, 12pm to 4pm
Art Haus is open: Tuesdays to Sundays, 10am - 3.30pm
Find it: 3b Clarens Road, Sea Point (behind the Bootleggers)
