Learn about rock pools, turtles and more with Two Oceans Aquarium

Find out everything from the simplest guppy to the most complex oceanic mammals

The Two Oceans Aquarium has launched two online courses - Ocean Fun-atics for young kids and Marine Biobasics course for teens and adults. Over July and August, let the little ones discover rock pool animals, sharks and turtles, or take a more in-depth look at what lives in our oceans from single-celled protists to complex mammals.

The Ocean Fun-atics course is for kids between grades 1 and 3 and will be running from 13 to 17 July and again from 27 to 31 July. Every day between Monday and Friday, children will follow along live sessions with Two Ocean Aquarium educators Wandiswa, Bianca and Chanelle. Each day will feature a different topic from how animals play hide and seek to the differences between a fish and a shark.

Each class will be filmed live over Zoom with a maximum of 20 children per class. All classes will be different with a new topic every day. Kids can pick and choose which classes they’d like to join, or they can sign up for all five sessions.

Between 6 July and 5 August, The Two Oceans Aquarium is offering a foundations course for adults and high school students interested in marine life. The Marine Biobasics course will provide a more in-depth look into the marine animal species; from single-celled protists to mammals as well as marine algae, seaweeds and plants. This is a great opportunity for those interested in studying marine biology at tertiary institutions.

Each session is two hours long with a break in the middle. The classes will be filmed live over Zoom and the presentations, short videos and notes will be available via

The Ocean Fun-atics course can only accept a limited number of children at a time, so to avoid disappointment you can secure your spot by filling out the Ocean Fun-atics form via

For those interested in the more in-depth Marine Biobasics course, you can fill out the registration form online via
