Join The Fight Against Cancer With The CANSA Relay For Life Vredendal

Take a walk… and support a very important cause

CANSA Relay For Life is part of an international movement that unites cancer survivors and the communities that are driven to make a contribution towards the fight against cancer. On Saturday, 17 March 2018, gather your troops and head to Vredendal on the West Coast for action-packed sporting fun.

The Relay For Life is a fun and inclusive overnight team event that raises much-needed funds to fight cancer. It offers everyone the opportunity to participate in something fun that contributes to a significant cause, while also giving cancer survivors a chance to share their story.

It offers everyone – both young and old – the opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer and to honour those who have been touched by cancer.

The event is volunteer-driven and community-owned, so all hands are needed on deck. During the relay, teams of 10 to 15 people commit to keeping at least one member walking the track at all times – a reminder that cancer never sleeps.

Teams set up camp around the track before the CANSA Relay For Life event opens with the moving Survivor's Lap of Honour. After sunset the candles are lit in the luminaria bags that encircle the track. Everyone gathers round to pay tribute and remember those lost to cancer, support those fighting cancer and rejoice with all the cancer survivors.

Throughout the evening and the next day, everyone enjoys entertainment, fun and camaraderie in a festival-like atmosphere. Each community's Relay For Life is special and is part of a national and international movement in the fight against cancer.

Entrance to the Cansa Relay for life is free, but volunteers are much needed. All guests are urged to sign up to the volunteer programme.
