Chris Chameleon Concert at Simonsvlei Winery

Sing along to your favourite liedjies at one of Paarl’s premier wine estates

Join acclaimed local singer Chris Chameleon at the Simonsvlei winery on Saturday, 16 August 2014 for an evening of unforgettable music in Paarl.

The solo artist, who has built up a fan base both locally and abroad, is set to light up the night with hits from his latest work, Posduif (Carrier Pigeon). The Afrikaans album features a collection of soulful compositions written by the talented young actress and poet Daniella Deysel as well as some toe-tapping party tunes taken from Fanie Fourie’s Lobola, the 2013 romantic comedy that Chris starred in. Audiences can expect appearances from Chris’s on-screen alter-ego Sarel Fourie (he plays Fanie Fourie’s brother in the film) and from the gifted Daniella.

Chris entered the South African music scene as bassist and front-man of the eclectic musical trio Boo! The group, who received a South African Music Award (SAMA) in 2002 for Best Pop Album, has played in over 17 countries and performed alongside international giants like The White Stripes, Limp Bizkit, Franz Ferdinand Slipknot and Coldplay.

After the act officially disbanded in 2004, Chris went on to launch a successful solo career. His first album, Ek Herhaal Jou, sampled compositions from the iconic South African poet Ingrid Jonker and gained critical acclaim. The album was nominated for a SAMA in the Best Adult Contemporary Afrikaans Album category in 2006 and reached platinum status by December 2007.

Following his initial success, Chris continued to produce records of exceptional quality. In 2011 he released As Jy Weer Skryf, a second albeit edgier exploration of the works of Ingrid Jonker that showcased his unique vocal and musical capabilities. Similarly, his 2013 album, Herleef – Psalms & Gesange, maintained its rock and pop influences, while exploring his personal connection to God.

Posduif promises a fresh and diverse mix of soul-soothing harmonies and complex instrumentals, and visitors to the concert can look forward to popular tunes like ‘Die Weerkaatsing’, ‘Knop Knop’, ‘Stukkie Van Jou Oe’andDinky’.

Guests should note that Simonsvlei’s restaurant, Eat@Simonsvlei, will be open for dinner prior to the concert. Alternatively, the restaurant will also be offering takeaway meals that can be enjoyed during the show. Cooldrinks and Simonsvlei wines will also be available for purchase. To making a booking at the restaurant dial +27 (0) 21 863 3845. Note that tables seat 8 to 10 people.
