Barnyard Theatre’s Forever Young Music Tribute Show

Pay homage to the late and great musical kings and queens

The Barnyard Theatre and its talented troupe will honour the music industry’s legends, icons and 27 Club members with its Forever Young tribute show. From Wednesday, 23 April until Sunday, 1 June 2014, the dinner theatre in Willowbridge, Durbanville will treat music lovers to a playlist chock-full of the most memorable hits from as early as the 40s to the late naughties.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE 2014 BARNYARD THEATRE’S FOREVER YOUNG MUSIC TRIBUTE SHOW

The gifted 11-piece cast will breathe life into classic tunes by talented musos like Frank Sinatra, Amy Winehouse, Elvis Presley, Whitney Houston and many more.

The show kicks off with a trip back in time to remember rock ‘n’ roll icons and the godfathers of pop music Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper.

The performance then pays homage to the gravelly, soulful voices of jazz and blues stars Nina Simone, Louis Armstrong, Barry White and Ray Charles. Not to mention, the show will also honour music royalty like the legendary King of Rock ‘n’ Roll Elvis Presley and the King of Pop Michael Jackson.

Tap your feet to the tunes of infamous Rat Pack members Frank ‘Ol’ Blue Eyes’ Sinatra and Dean Martin, the seductive platinum blonde bombshell Marilyn Monroe, and, not forgetting, the likes of Roy Orbison, Patsy Cline and the brothers Gibb.

And, let’s be honest here, no tribute would be complete without the songs from the members of the 27 Club – Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison and Amy Winehouse – who all left this earth too soon, but will be immortalised thanks to their musical legacies.

Apart from the aforementioned dearly departed, attendees can also get an earful of more recent legends such as John Lennon, Freddie Mercury, Whitney Houston, Michael Hutchence of INXS, Donna Summers and Bob Marley.

Though, not forgetting the music giants and pioneers of South African music, the Forever Young tribute show will pay homage to the larger-than-life stars Brenda Fassie, Margaret Singana and Miriam Makeba.

So, get down and boogie, two-step and shuffle in your seats and enjoy pop, rock, soul, disco and reggae while saluting these icons.
