Whether you celebrate Easter or not, it’s hard not to be joyful during this time of year (hello, long weekend!). There are plenty of ways to celebrate and enjoy your weekend – whether you want to party on a rooftop, explore gardens with the kids or see an iconic South African band.

The iconic South African band Mango Groove is performing at a charity concert this Easter Saturday, and it will be incredible. Held at Curro Hermanus, the proceeds will go towards Yomelelani ECDC, a crèche and pre-school in Zwelihle township. Bring a blanket, picnic basket and the kiddies (children under six get in free)!
Date: Easter weekend, Saturday 8 April. Gates open at 3pm, concert starts at 5pm.

Rhebokskloof Wine Estate has tons of events planned for the Easter weekend. On Friday, Sunday and Monday, families can treat themselves to a picnic by the lake, magic shows, petting zoos, an Easter egg hunt and a meet-and-greet with the Easter Bunny. If you're looking for live performances this Easter: There will also be the two shows by the internationally acclaimed Schönbrunn Palace Symphony Orchestra of Vienna on Wednesday and Saturday. Tuff Nutterz is making its debut in SA. This 300-metre long inflatable obstacle course is packed with 30 obstacles like huge slides, climbing walls, hanging rails, balance balls and slippy slides. All ages can join in on the fun (even moms and dads) at Imhoff Sports Complex in Newlands.

(Re)discover Cape Town over your long weekend with a road trip. Join the Galileo Open Air Cinema at Six Gun Grill Newlands Cricket Stadium for an evening of family fun, entertainment, and Easter eggs. There’ll be games, colouring in competitions, face painting, food stalls and an appearance from the Easter Bunny. The film is the animated fantasy action-adventure The Rise Of The Guardians. The Gin & Tonic festival is a great way to spend a Friday (and a public holiday!). Taste fresh new gins (as well as local favourites), party to live music and DJs and treat yourself to lunch from some of Cape Town’s best food trucks. Little Stream Conference Centre and Tea Garden is built on seven acres of beautiful gardens in Constantia. It’s a dream to explore with kids, and you could make a day out of it by hiding easter eggs on the expansive grounds.
