Cosmopolitan beach hang-out where Shimmy used to be

The new Cabo Beach Club, where Shimmy used to be (set amongst the docks at the V&A Waterfront) – is a contemporary, cosmopolitan beach hang-out. It oozes glamour, from the trendy velvet daybed and shaggy chairs, to the Caviar that serves only those delicacies. That doesn’t mean you can’t relax there, just do it dressed in uber beach chic.

IT LOOKS GOOD AND IT’S FUN

Cabo is glam from the get go. The entrance opens up into a wide-open, airy indoor space. The floor is set with sexy sofas and comfy chairs defining social spaces that a group of friends can occupy to celebrate a special occasion, or just life itself.

We love the character of the interior, with its chic but playful decor and luxurious textures. It’s infinitely Instagrammable. Definitely make a date with one of those bar stools – you’ll struggle to find one more comfortable.
 

FROM DAYTIME POOLSIDE LOUNGING…...

On a hot day, outside is where you want to be. There is a clear blue pool facing the water's edge under palm trees. Lounge on day beds facing the sea and order drinks from the outdoor bar.

Food is available from Cabo’s Beach Club, which has the perfect beach menu – burgers (from R160), pizzas made with fermented dough bases (from R135) and sushi (from R90). There are also mains, such as whole baked black fish (R250) and a seafood platter to share (R1500), plus salads (from R140). 

….TO A NIGHTTIME, PARTY VIBE

As the sun sets and evening arrives, the atmosphere turns from relaxed and cool to vibrant and hot. A resident DJ plays throughout the summer season, so dancing is on the cards, and you can dine at Violet Restaurant, Cabo’s more exclusive eatery.

Run by renowned Cape Town chef Ryan Cole, Violet’s menu is inspired by love of the ocean. There’s seared yellowfin tuna, served with sticky rice, Yuzu ginger soy and a nori-and-sesame salad (R150), or a salt-baked whole fish served with flatbread, carrot hummus and chimichurri (R270).
 

FOR REAL OPULENCE, HEAD UPSTAIRS

The Caviar is where you’ll find the really opulent goods – Imperial caviar, which starts at R3 700 for 30g. The oysters are one of Cabo’s defining experiences – there are 6 different ways they’re served. They’re shucked to order, and you can have them individually (R38 each) or a plate of 12 (R360). Enjoy with Champagne and a gorgeous ocean view on the balcony.
