Do something new. Watch the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Elite 16 – Cape Town at the Grand Parade live in Cape Town from 2-6 November 2022. It’s going to be a party of note, a lifestyle event packed with nail-biting action, live music and loads of food and drink, plus VIP experiences. Here are 6 reasons you must be there! Tickets start from just R100.
Watch the world’s top beach volleyball athletes compete. Image: Volleyball World
The athletes you’re going to watch are massive heroes all over the world, and you get to watch 32 of the world’s best men and women volleyball teams compete. South Africa will be represented by Leo Williams and Grant Goldschmidt, who played for South Africa in the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham earlier this year.
The Beach Pro Tour is the worldwide professional beach volleyball tour for both men and women. Image: Volleyball World
It’s going to be a jam-packed couple of days with exhilarating sports action: Winning the Beach Pro Tour is one of the highest honours in international beach volleyball. Stay on for the party where there will be live DJs, Heart FM and loads of food and drink offerings.

The tournament will be broadcast live on SuperSport Variety 2, but you get to watch it live. The making of the courts for this prestigious tour is a feat in itself. To transform the Grand Parade into a beach volleyball arena, 1000 cubic metres (353 tons to be exact) of sand will be trucked in to create the beach volleyball courts.

The tournament, secured for the next 10 years, is a triumph for the City of Cape Town, the local tourism economy and the residents of Cape Town. The lifestyle event is sporting action (and partying) with a purpose - the sand from the tournament will be used to build a 44 x 30 metre sports court for beach soccer, beach tennis, beach netball and beach volleyball programmes, amongst other legacy elements.
Athletes fight for ranking points and the prize money on offer, while fans are captivated by the on-court action and festival atmosphere. Image: Volleyball World
This pro-sport is on steroids, pretty much like the Rugby 7s. It’s fast-paced as two-person teams compete for the title. While indoor volleyball has six players per team, with each player having a specific role, beach volleyball players are typically free to move around and cover more ground.
The objective in beach volleyball is for a player to hit the ball over the net such that it lands within the opponent’s playing area. Image: Volleyball World
This international event is designed to thrill both sports enthusiasts and those who know nothing about the sport. Come for the day or sign up for a weekend package - general access tickets start at R100 for the day, or opt for grandstand access to be closer to the action. Enjoy meals and complimentary drinks in the VIP marquee from R1 500 for the day.
