Kirstenbosch Summer Concerts 2011

The ultimate Cape Town Sunday experience is back this November and December!


Summer concerts at Kirstenbosch Gardens are a definite highlight on the Cape Town events calendar. And don’t have to be Sherlock Holmes to figure out why with SA’s favourite music acts and one on the sprawling lawns of one of the world’s top three Botanical Gardens.

Sunday 20th November – Locnville and Jax Panik

Locnville are the Cape Town electro pop/rap wonder-kids, who just so happen to be identical twins and descendants of Charlie Chaplin.

Jax Panix revels in a smorgasboard of pop –centric sounds and actually started as a started as a parody on the traditional pop and rock bands that dominate the South African music scene.

Sunday 27th NovemberVan Koke Kartel | Die Heuwels Fantasties | Jack Parow | JR

Musicians Francois van Coke, Wynand Myburgh, Hunter Kennedy and Pierre Greeff grew up in Bellville and played in many bands over the years, of which Fokofpolisiekar is the best known.

Jack Parow has been at the vanguard of the Zef revolution since its inception not so long ago.

JR hails from the Johannesburg and is one of South Africa’s rising stars of Hip Hop. His debut album made it big with his song with HHP ‘Show Dem’ (make da circle beega) a classic.

Sunday 4 December – Lira

Lira is an inspiration to thousands of South Africans and continues to strike a chord with her impactful songwriting, moving vocals, and powerful stage presence.

Sunday 11 December – The Parlotones

The Parlotones are now the biggest selling rock band in South Africa with more than 300 000 albums sold.
