7 Yummy Mother's Day Lunches in Cape Town

Spoil and thank Mom with a heavenly lunch at any of these Cape Town restaurants offering Mother's Day 2009 lunches

Make it your mission to make Mom
feel like a million bucks on Mother’s Day 2009. Every mom is different and appreciates a variety of different gestures, but we’ve yet to come across a mom who would say no to a lovely lunch at one of Cape Town’s many restaurants!

Finding a restaurant in Cape Town for Mother’s Day lunch is hardly a difficult task, but if you take an extra moment or two to choose one that offers an extra-special location or another charming characteristic, Mom will notice the thought you’ve put into it, and feel even more special and loved.

We’ve put together a tantalising selection of what we think should be some of the most memorable Mother’s Day lunches in Cape Town – take your pick!

7 Restaurants for Mother’s Day Lunch in Cape Town:

1) Mother’s Day Lunch at Nederburg Wine Estate

Enjoy some bubbly and canapés in Nederberg’s stately Manor House followed by a delicious three course buffet lunch served in their beautifully refurbished Visitor’s Centre. Round off an unforgettable afternoon with coffee, chocolates and brandy for a Mother’s Day experience she’ll absolutely treasure.

2) Mother's Day Lunch at Pigalle in Cape Town

Pigalle owes its name to a vibrant square in Paris which is famed for its night life, and its name is certainly appropriate, as the restaurant overlooks the nightly hustle and bustle of Somerset Road where a huge revival has put Greenpoint firmly on the map as the trendy area of town. Pigalle is open for Mother’s Day this year for the first time ever, and there will be live jazz music in the afternoon.

3) Mother's Day Lunch at the Twelve Apostles in Cape Town

Allow the team at the 12 Apostles to spoil and indulge Mom with their legendary personal service and the fabulous buffet lunch that awaits in the Azure Restaurant or in the Atlantic Terrace Marquee. Chef Roberto de Carvalho has carefully crafted a menu that even the most discerning Mom will approve of – including salad caprice with home-made basil pesto, roasted lamb leg roll and irresistibly sticky desserts such as chocolate éclairs.

4) Mother's Day Lunch at the Top of the Ritz Hotel

Top of the Ritz is a restaurant situated on the 21st floor of the Ritz Hotel. It is the only revolving restaurant in the Western Cape. As the restaurant slowly revolves (one full rotation every 90 minutes) it gives you a full view of the Mother City – you’ll see everything from Green Point to Sea Point to Lion’s Head to Robben Island and more.

5) Mother’s Day Aboard a Floating Restaurant

How about a Mother’s Day Lunch aboard a floating restaurant? For something completely different, dine aboard the beautiful Museum Ship, C.S.Cable Restorer, permanently moored in historic and picturesque Simons Town.

6) Mother's Day at Slatterys Restaurant in Durbanville

Nestling at the foothills of Kanonkop, Slatterys Restauarant is situated in a beautifully restored farmhouse under large oak trees in the heart of the Cape Winelands, and is a lovely option for lunch this Mother’s Day.

7) Mother’s Day Lunch at Backsberg Wine Estate

Backsberg is a beautiful wine estate not far from Stellenbosch. Their Sunday lunches have become very popular, and for excellent reason. There is a 3-course set menu on offer, which consists of a starter, Lamb on the Spit with chef Linda's famous roast potatoes, and a buffet of salads and summer vegetables, finished off with dessert.
