Cape Town's Restaurants Dominate Eat Out's Top 10

Eat Out releases top twenty finalists for 2009 Top 10 South African restaurants

Cape Town has been blessed with a wide selection of great restaurants and quirky eateries and this year Eat Out - South Africa's definitive restaurant guide - has put the spotlight on some of Cape Town's best eateries.

Each year Eat Out magazine releases its Top 10 restaurants list. In 2009, as is usually seen with the Eat Out Top 10 list, the Western Cape's restaurants have dominated the coveted spots.

In 2008, seven out of the ten spots were held by Western Cape restaurants and with the fantastic selection of restaurants that litter the Cape, one can only assume that 2009 will be no different.

Eat Out has announced its twenty finalists for its 2009 list and fifteen of them are in the Western Cape.

The Cape Town restaurants featured in this year's top twenty are; Aubergine, Bizerca Bistro, Bread and Wine, Carne SA, The Foodbarn, The Greenhouse at The Cellars-Hohenort, Jardine, La Colombe, Overture, The Restaurant at Grande Provence, Reuben's Restaurant & Bar, The Roundhouse, Rust en Vrede, Tasting Room at Le Quartier Français, and Terroir.

The Eat Out awards will take place on the 22nd of November 2009 at the Westin Grand Hotel in Cape Town.

The awards ceremony will pay tribute to culinary excellence in South Africa and encourage South Africans to clink their glasses in honour of South Africa's top culinary talent.

On the night, some of South Africa's award-winning chefs including Luke Dale-Roberts of La Colombe, Michael Broughton of Terroir, and Laurent Deslandes of Bizerca will join hands with host chef Grant Cullingworth in whipping up a fabulous four-course meal for guests to enjoy, paired with award-winning wines.

At the awards the organisers will announce 2009's Restaurant of the Year ,Chef of the Year, the Top 10 restaurants, Service Award, Lifetime Achievement Award and the Woolworths TASTE Bursary Award, as well as reveal the 1000 best restaurants in South Africa in their 2010 issue on sale from 23 November 2009.
