What could be better than escaping to the serene Flenterskloof Farm for a tranquil day of prime picnicking accompanied by laid-back beats brought to the fore by drop-deck gorgeous DJs hailing from South Africa and overseas? Not much as nothing tops a fun day with friends, and that’s exactly what this summer soirée is all about. The next events are on Saturday, 26, and Tuesday, 29 December 2015, so best you secure your spots soon!

Following a successful launch event, the forthcoming deep house picnics are prime times to celebrate the end of the festive season. For those not in the know, a deep house picnic means a memorable line-up of the finest local and international DJs playing for 11 hours straight as the sun slowly sets. It means a huge range of food stalls offering all kinds of delicious treats to choose from. It means chilling, it means dancing and sweating, and it means jumping into the cool lake for new energy. It means listening to soothing, hypnotising deep house sounds whilst relaxing on large blankets, heads resting on friends’ shoulders. A deep house picnic means tuning out of reality.

So tune out of the stresses of city life and tune into spellbinding tracks from a carefully curated line-up by Dino Moran: with big names like Culoe Da Song (JHB), Thyladomid (GER), Rafael Cerato (FR), Peter Abrahams (RSA/AUS) and Thank Me Later (Cape Town), the atmosphere will be festive and toes are bound to start tapping.

Aside from the rocking line-up, the venue is easy to get to and offers scenic surrounds, framed by towering mountains that turn crimson-gold at sunset. This is the first time Flenterskloof has been used as a venue for this kind of event so it’s unspoilt and exclusive, making it the perfect spot for a picnic. It’s also close by to Franschhoek, along the R45 – an easy drive from the Mother City.

Both picnic days promise plenty of joy, excitement, reflection and enigmatic energy as the sound quality from the Funktion 1 system connects people who move and groove to the amplification of the tunes. Become immersed in the soulful sounds, the crowd, the vast selection of eats from the multiple food trucks on hand, and the pool and the lake. Keep hydrated with beverages from the fully-stocked bar, sprawl out on the grass and blow bubbles or just sit back, relax and let the soothing rhythms wash over you. Your ticket includes a picnic spot with a blanket and umbrella, so you simply have to arrive and tune out of everyday life and tune into relaxation: this boutique event is all about quality sound, quality food and quality time with a like-minded crowd.
