This new candy store’s range is as broad as the Bo-kaap’s streets are bright. The Sweet Shop stocks treats from the UK, America, Turkey and Mexico. Fill up with Reese’s cups, Hershey’s bars, Sour Patch Kids, Jolly Ranchers and loads of crazy candy flavours. Our South African favourites like Lays are well represented, too, and there are often great deals.

At The Sweet Spot, which has an interior just as colorful as the iconic Cape Malay houses in the area, candy boxes, chip packets and cooldrink tins fill the shelves and tables with an explosion of colours (and some crazy flavours) from America, Turkey, UK and Mexico.

Grab a paper bag and fill it with as much candy as you’d like, there’s plenty to go around. Can’t decide which Hershey’s bar to try first? Why not try all the flavours, from “sprinkles and creme” to “cookies ‘n chocolate” or opt for a more spicy snack like curry Samyang Ramen. Take home a box of Reese’s Cup cereal or Sour Patch Kids and a cherry cola.

No matter your age, you’ll feel like a kid in a candy store…literally. Image: Sarah Jarvis
They have 10 different varities of Reeses, but you’ll also discover some snacks all the way from Mexico like Tajin (a spicey blend) or Chamoy (a cordial mix of sweet, sour and spicy). Plus, some South African favourites like Lays, but with new flavours like West Indies Hot ‘n Spicey or Chile Lemon.
