508 slick fully-managed units: Study pods, resort-pool, Zen garden, cinema…
Last updated: 19 October 2022
The future of student accommodation will be a reality soon, when sales of the units of The One go live on 26 October 2022. The One is a fully-managed development of 508 luxury units just 5 minutes walk from Stellenbosch University. The units start at R1,55 million, an enticing prospect for students, their parents and investors alike, especially since there’s a R200 000 discount at launch.

Described as a “living and learning utopia”, it was designed in consultation with academic experts and Stellenbosch University to give students the best in holistic living and learning.
It’s the biggest development of its kind, made special by the scale of amenities to create a residence entirely geared for providing the perfect environment for students to thrive.
There are 508 units spread across five floors, ranging in size from 23m2 to 150m2. The smallest are cleverly designed studios, some with patios and others with balconies, all with a private bathroom, kitchenette, open-plan lounge and bedroom, a study desk and other premium fixtures.
Shared studios provide some privacy with smart room dividers. Image: The One
There are a wide variety of different unit types, including studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments in a variety of layouts to suit every type of student, from undergraduate to postgraduate.
Some rooms offer more space than others, which is great for senior students. Image: The One
Students can study in private in their unit or in solo pods, and there’s plenty of opportunity for collaborative learning, from the communal study areas with multi-purpose boardrooms for group work, to boardrooms and conference space (print facilities included). There is high-speed Wi-Fi throughout and back-up power for all common areas.

Tertiary education is not only about getting a stellar education, a happy social life is important, too. There’s plenty of space to relax and make friendships and new connections at the wood-fire braai areas and fire pit, by the resort-style swimming pool, in the e-gaming room, cinema, and in the quiet, green spaces and outdoor undercover lounge areas.
Students will also have access to a world-class gym, coffee shop and restaurant, plus themed professional kitchens on each floor.

There are so many reasons this is a smart investment. Stellenbosch is short of good, quality student accommodation and thus can demand higher rentals. The One is close to campus (650m by foot) and just 10 minutes walk from Stellenbosch central.
The units either look out into the communal areas, or out into Stellenbosch town. Image: The One
The development is inspired by residential university environments such as Oxford and Cambridge, where students live and learn in one space in close proximity to the university.
The development is less than a kilometre away from Stellenbosch University, and taps into its support services, such as the well-being and mentoring programmes, and social events.
Study together or alone, your choice; high-speed WiFi guaranteed. Image: The One
The One is a managed property with all the facilities necessary to keep students safe and secure, as well as provide all the support so that they can focus on their academic studies.
Management staff will be on hand 24/7 to handle any issues, and facilitate an environment conducive to studying and learning.
In terms of physical safety, there’ll be a 24-hour concierge service, and the university shuttle service will stop on site. There’ll also be staff security, and state-of-the-art systems, such as CCTV surveillance cameras.
