Clear your diaries folks! Multi Grammy nominated artist Tevin Campbell is back in our beautiful country this July 2016.
Marmalade Productions, the company behind the sell-out DIVAS and DIVOS concerts, is bringing baby-faced, Grammy award-nominated R&B singer Tevin Campbell to the Mother City for a one-night concert at GrandWest on Friday 22 July 2016, as part of a larger South African tour.
Tevin Campbell hit the music scene in the late 80s at the tender age of 13 when his dynamic high tenor voice first featured on Quincy Jones’s “Back on the Block” album. After this, the young crooner appeared and sang in Prince’s 1990 rock musical film “Graffiti Bridge” and also performed a song on the soundtrack of the 1991 crime drama “Boyz n the Hood”.
These initial achievements set the stage for success, and Campbell’s 1991 debut album “T.E.V.I.N” was certified platinum, with the track ‘Tell Me What You Want Me to Do’ topping the US Billboard Hot R&B Singles chart.
After such a successful entrance into the world of music, the young performer took two years to put together his second offering with the hopes of showing audiences a more mature side to himself. In 1993, at the age of 17, Campbell released the album “I’m Ready”, which not only topped the charts and went double platinum, but also made the youngster a household name and the idol of many teenage girls. His most notable number one hit ‘Can We Talk?’ had school ground casanovas crooning and adolescent girls swooning.
Needless to say, we're seriously excited to be hosting the smooth vocalist in our pretty city once again.
