The biggest rib in Cape Town? We’re not going to even pretend we really know. But, a few days ago, Holy Smoke, a new smokehouse in Canterbury Street, Zonnebloem, released this incredible video showcasing their giant beef ribs. Take a look:

Now, we’re not rib experts, but that looks massive. Or, as one Cape Town photographer and vlogger put it: “This is bigger than my cat.”
Each individual rib weighs 1kg and is apparently smoked for 12 hours in a half-ton smoker, so we just had to find out more.

NEW RESTAURANT HOLY SMOKE
Holy Smoke, a smokehouse and cocktail bar that just opened in Canterbury street, uses kiln-dried Rooikrans wood to smoke dry-rubbed meats for 8–12 hours before being served.
But the restaurant has more to it than protein-focused dishes.
COLOURFUL SHOOTERS AND CRAZY COCKTAILS
Cocktails dominate the drinks list with classics like margaritas and mojitos, plus their skilled barmen can make any cocktail you’d like on request, provided they have the ingredients. They’ve also got R20 gin and tonics and craft beers Tuesday to Friday, 5pm to 7pm. Plus, they’ve got exciting colour-changing shooters to make your night that much more exciting.

The food menu boasts delicious appetisers such as empanadas, nachos and mac and cheese balls, while main dishes consist of beef brisket, pork ribs and belly, free-range spatchcock chicken and their giant beef ribs.
