The skilled digital editor has a love for how numbers create success and makes music with content: The digital editor excels in crafting good, clean copy, driving content pillars and a content strategy, and developing talent in content team members. The digital editor will know how to work in a fast-paced environment, to be able to publish quality copy in record time well as ensure resonance throughout all channels. They digital editor is vibrant, dynamic, positive and an example to the team.



  1. Learning and instilling our successful methodologies and accelerate them in the team to craft content that can resonate with our global readership

  2. Building a content team to develop the next generation of content creators

  3. Developing the analytics reporting structure to help identify and improve for continuous

  4. Securing the best performance across channels, including social media and Google rankings

Reports to: managing editor

Job description is looking for a hardworking and go-getting intern to join its content team. We’re looking for a bright-eyed, bushy-tailed content producer with a spirit of discovery. You will learn to craft digital content, research, interview, use social media, use CMS and CRM and editing software. You must have a passion for digital media and social media and be someone who has a forever learning mindset. The editorial intern will (with coaching) contribute to all our content sections from events, to overviews and features. You will conduct research and interviews and learn about social media. There’s also a high chance that the internship could evolve into a permanent position should you prove yourself an invaluable addition to the team.


Must love to dig for facts and research

  • Research and find new and unique events in the city and Western Cape
  • Fact-check and update overviews existing overviews
  • Use digital tools (from Google to social media) to search and find interesting nuggets
  • Cold call leads and interview people for facts
  • Show and have a wide-ranging interest in the people, culture and events that make the city and province
  • Read widely

Must want to be a digital writer, copywriter and/or social media producer

  • Produce everything from events
  • Produce new overviews and features
  • Constantly pitch new discoveries
  • Go out to discover, experience, interview and come back to write about it
  • Respect and deliver to deadlines
  • Partake in monthly content planning meetings
  • Make a concerted effort to meet all deadlines
  • Work with the social media manager
  • Have working knowledge of social media tools

Must want to learn or further your knowledge in digital:

  • Learn and Incorporate our SEO methodologies and brand
  • Upload content on the CMS
  • Help in keeping our CRM system up to date
  • Assist with social media tasks
  • Source and edit photos and video


  • Writing ability with a good grasp of grammar and spelling (this will be tested)
  • A positive, can-do attitude and good work ethic
  • Social media experience (especially Instagram)


  • Photography video skills
  • CMS experience
  • Knowledge of Photoshop (advantageous but not essential)

Personal Skills

  • Wide interests and social circles, so not parochial
  • Knowledge of unique and “unknown” or uncovered parts of the city and province
  • Thirst for discovery
  • Positive attitude
