Stunning images show Cape Town without any light pollution

Here’s what the night sky would look like if we could see every single star

Out of 9,000 stars across the sky, most of us can only see fewer than 100. Cape Town is part of 80% of the world's population that lives under light pollution with a Bortle Scale score of 8 to 9, meaning most constellations are completely invisible. 

What would our city’s skies look like if there was no light pollution? A stunning new interactive photo series by Under Lucky Stars has set out to answer that question, and the results put stars in our eyes.

Using real images of city skylines captured by photographers, the stars have been added back into the skies to show what Cape Town might have looked like if there was no light pollution.
