Braaibroodjies, melktert ice cream & live music
Last updated: Tuesday, 25 February 2025
FYRE Dining gives a whole new meaning to “out of the frying pan and into the fire.” An open fire that is. This restaurant on an olive and wine farm is all about meat, fire and smoke; think braai-style meals with an elevated twist, like skilpadjies on grilled cornbread and roasted boerpampoen and lentils.

Amidst vineyards and olive groves sits FYRE Dining on Olijvenkraal Olive and Wine Farm. You’ll see peacocks strutting around and little bonsais adorn the entrance of the sleek black building. Plus, you can listen to live music every weekend from various local acts.
The menu features a selection of “fyre bites” like oepsies (honey-glazed bacon, wrapped around glacé cherries), braaibroodjies (with boerenkaas, red onion and peach chutney) and skilpadjies (lamb liver wrapped in netvet, served on a grilled cornbread).

You can book the restaurant for your own private event. Image: @deurmyoe
For mains, South African classics are cooked over an open fire. From prawns and pap en vleis to baby chicken and braaiplankies for two (slow roasted pork belly, sirloin steak, boerewors, parmesan pap, and chakalaka). Sides include favourites like triple cooked potato chips and pap en sous.
Vegetarians are sorted too. There’s tempura aubergine and chips and spiced, roasted boerpampoen and lentils. They’ve even got a kids menu with boerewors and chips, and macaroni and cheese. Of course, the meal wouldn’t be complete without malva pudding cheesecake or “melktert” ice cream.
