Has “the question” been popped? Now’s the time, then, to head to the inaugural Simon’s Town Wedding Expo, which happens on Saturday, 28 September.
The expo brings together local service providers and products so you can find the perfect match face-to-face, which will save you time, money and frustration. There’ll be stunning dresses, decor and the latest in wedding trends, and everything you could possibly desire to help you plan your perfect day.
WHAT’S THE WHOLE EXPO ABOUT?
It all starts with a goodie bag. Inside it, you’ll find a wine-tasting glass for the day (not a bad sign of things to come), plus all the information you’ll need about the events, talks and samples that’ll be available.
For example, brides-to-be can watch live hair and make-up trials while sipping MCC, or soak up tips and inspiration at the décor stations and ideas corners, or taste wedding cakes and confectionary in the Tasting Room.
Diesel & Dust Craft Beer, The Lord Nelson Inn, and Wederom wines are hosting the grooms’ Stag Corner. This isn’t exclusive, though; brides-to-be are more than welcome to join.
Photographers and videographers will show off their skills by capturing special moments on the day and there’ll be beautiful dresses by Mystic Rose, Nostalgie Vintage Clothing, and VictorK Couture. Models will show off designer wedding dresses at 11am, 1pm, and 3pm, with lucky draws after each show.
What’s great about this expo is that it also covers the serious stuff: couples can attend talks about wedding prep, marriage contracts and more.
AND YOU’LL LOVE THE MANY GIVEAWAYS
Each guest will receive a (reusable) goodie bag filled with Esse beauty products and discount vouchers from restaurants and guesthouses. Prizes, give-aways and special deals include weekend getaways at hotels and guesthouses in Simons Town, wedding photo-shoots by Dream Images Photography and private tours to Cape Point by Cape To Point Tours.
IT’S A DAY FULL OF ENTERTAINMENT
Violinists Nina Kolev and Hannelize Gravel will provide a backdrop of beautiful string music, while Simon’s Town’s well-known ghost-walk tour guide, André Leibbrandt, will lead visitors on a meander between the venues on the day. Read more about the ghost walks.
Kids will love the I love Waffles stall and, if you want to get out to the sea, don’t forget you can go to beautiful Boulder’s Beach to the see the penguins.

TWO MAIN VENUES
There are two main venues, a four-minute walk apart. Simon’s Town Community Hall in St George’s Street will be transformed into a fairytale wedding venue by the Vision Decor events team. The second venue is at The House of Grace guest house at 192 St George’s Street. The sidewalk between the venues will be clearly marked.
A four-minute walk from the community hall is Jubilee Square, where there are plenty of restaurants and the Just Nuisance Market, which will be specially operating on this day. However, there will also be wine, craft-beer tastings, and cake and coffee as well as wedding-specific catering at the two venues. The Typsy Gypsy Art Bar will be selling picnic baskets to enjoy with wine and cocktails in the beautiful gardens at The House of Grace.
