Gin weekends. Live DJs. Private strippers. And pamper weekends. Here's a host of Cape Town bachelorette party options to suit every budget (and taste).
Scootours is a thrilling way to spend the day outdoors with your gals, and its newest location in the Stellenbosch countryside has loads of adventures to choose from. You can freewheel through vineyards and over bridges; try traditional archery; or book an e-bike wine tour to visit surrounding wine farms like Boschendal or Rainbow’s End. Plus, you can stop for lunch next door at Banhoek Chilli Oil. Find out more about this off-road adventure in Stellenbosch.

Three days of gin tastings, food pairings, picnics, massages and pool parties. The Rotterdam Guest Farm is an exquisite pastoral getaway in Swellendam. With luxury farm-style lodgings and river-facing balconies, a pool, cows in the pasture (it's a working dairy farm) and orange orchards. It's a brilliant boutique wedding venue, but for bachelorettes, they do something really special: An entire weekend of gin tastings and poolside massages, not to mention the breakfasts and incredible safari sunset picnics among the eland (Africa's largest antelope). Plus, ask the staff at Rotterdam to book your self-drive sunset game drive and picnic at the nearby Kwetu Guest Farm. Check out Rotterdam's bachelorette party special.

Planning a wedding can be stressful stuff (and sometimes so can dealing with the bride), and a day of pampering and beauty treatment may be just the ticket to restoring harmony and good feelings all around. Gather the gang for a super girly day of hot stone massages, invigorating exfoliations and refreshing facials at Yemaya Spa in Sea Point, which offers an impressive selection of experiences within its tranquil walls that will have your party looking and feeling pretty in no time. Not to mention, it’s definitely a case of the more the merrier with the beauty oasis offering a 10% discount for groups of 10 or more. Finish with off with a new nail colour or a freshly done hairdo and then find a place nearby where you can toast to the almost-wed lady of the day with bubbles and something delicious or, alternatively, bring along your own favourite foods and drinks to enjoy.
The Cape Town headquarters for the standard wild night of hen party debauchery has to be Beefcakes, the De Waterkant burger joint that serves up beautiful boys alongside an over-the-top good time. Maybe it’s the pink fantasy décor, the chiselled abs of the waiters or the devilishly delightful cocktails, but it seems like the gay bar is more of a haven for girlies looking to safely ogle good-looking dudes and get a little wild. After you’ve been serenaded by one of the divas in drag that regularly take the stage at Beefcakes and had your fill of the famous burgers, take the party to the streets and visit more of the De Waterkant’s camp watering holes, or prepare to tee off for a round of pub golf down the bar-laden Long Street.
Establishments such as Mavericks Revue Bar are ordinarily called ‘gentlemen’s bars’ but women have been breaking down gender-based barriers for decades; why not this one? Treat the ladies, and bride-to-be, to a night of flirtatious fun and risqué business. Mavericks, an institution of sorts, opened its doors in 1990 to provocative patrons looking to enjoy mature entertainment amoung beautiful company, sipping on delectable drinks. For your final showdown, before you walk down the aisle, pre-book a table at the revue bar. If you’re worried your posse is packed with a bunch of blushing Betty’s then you can opt for a more private affair. The Library is a swanky cigar bar meets speakeasy style area separate from the main bar; the perfect contrast for your debaucherous antics. Otherwise you can reserve the Xtravaganza Private Lounge; a boudoir-esque setting that is perfect for large groups. The space features personal bar service, a full audio system, stage with lighting and the option to have two professional dancers provide the entertainment for the evening. So if you really want to celebrate singledom, and your trading it for the white picket fence ‘til death do you (and your spouse) part, then this is the perfect place for an exciting and unconventional evening.

For the luxury-loving lady, nothing could make for a better send-off than a decadent five-star high tea at one of the most exquisite hotels in Cape Town. Sitting on the lower slopes of Table Mountain with the Atlantic Ocean sparkling to infinity before it, the Twelve Apostles serves an indulgent tea by the sea spread in true London style and even offers up the sun-soaked Conservatory for larger groups keen to enjoy and celebrate in private. Picture a tea stand with dainty finger sandwiches, delicate pastries and freshly baked scones, and a table of your closest girlfriends dressed in their Sunday best toasting to your upcoming nuptials – it’s just the fitting fairy-tale beginning for the bride who has always had princess fantasies.
This is an excellent option for both the wife-to-be that could use a little help in the kitchen and the Martha Stewart-type who wants to fine-tune her techniques. It also doesn’t hurt that the experience takes place at a venue that literally has barrels of wine handy. Hosted at Leopard’s Leap estate in the culinary capital of Franschhoek, the up-to-22-person cooking classes are led by in-house chef Pieter de Jager or, if you’d like, a celebrity guest chef of your choice. It’s R650p/p for a two-hour lesson and members of the hen party will get to prepare a recipe at their own work station – complete with stove and utensils – under the guidance of the maestro, who will clue up the clueless with tricks, tips and techniques. Afterwards, the ladies celebrate their success by sitting down to a lunch or dinner of the meal they learned to cook paired with a Leopard’s Leap wine. Of course, you might as well take advantage of your surroundings and make it a day of wine tasting (by the way, the laidback, youthful winery has wine cocktails on the go from Friday to Sunday).
If you’re on the hunt for a bachelorette party that features tons of fun, a little bit of learning and barrels of laughter, let the Wine Flies team take you on an off-centre wine tasting journey into Cape Town’s surrounding vineyards. Wine Flies, a boutique tour company that takes the pretentiousness out of grape culture, will make an expedition into the Cape Winelands a jovial, light-hearted affair. The scheduled day tour of wine tasting includes stops at five unique family-owned farms in two regions, where you get to sip, swirl and savour reds and whites and pair them with delicious nibbles, such as cheese, chocolate, biltong and a traditional “boerebraai” (farmer’s barbecue). The wine lords are excellent entertainers, and after a day of sampling with Wine Flies, there’ll be nothing but good spirits and great memories all round. The scheduled tour costs R880pp, but please enquire about a personalised itinerary with Wine Flies. Book online.
Marriage doesn’t have to mean the end of your vixen days, and one way for the bride-to-be and her bachelorettes to unleash their inner minxes is with a sexy pole dancing session with The Pole Project. The aerial arts establishment hosts parties either at its studio in Cape Town’s CBD or in the privacy of an individual’s home where talented instructors will guide the ladies through a few hot moves, even hotter poses and a mini routine bound to get even the most timid of the group spinning, twisting and twirling like a pro. It’s both a fun, frisky time and a confidence booster sure to make even the not-so-limber feel like a young, hot Demi Moore in Striptease, and you can take it up a few notches by dressing up in your nicest naughty gear to totally look and feel the part. The Pole Project parties cost between R150p/p per hour for small groups (up to three people) and R1800 for two hours for groups of six or more people
Getting around – especially once those sneaky pink drinks start flowing – is always an issue and no-one should ever be titled ‘Designated Dave’ at any hen-bash. So to make things a little easier (and to help you tick one more thing off your never-ending-bachelorette-to-do-list), here is the ideal solution to all your transport needs: MLT Car Hire and Tours. Providing customers with professional, reliable and convenient bespoke shuttle and chauffer services, you and your girls will be transported to wherever your heart desires all night long. With a wide range of modern vehicles to choose from – from economy two-doors and luxury sedans to seven to 14 seater people carriers – whatever you need (seriously, whatever you need), MLT will strive to provide it.
