Shimansky’s newest ring is a love letter to Cape Town

What it looks like, where to get it + what it represents

Last updated: 23 August 2022

A beautiful place deserves a beautiful ring, so says Yair Shimansky, after launching a signature jewel for the Mother City and all who love her. Here’s everything you need to know about the Cape Town Ring.

IT REPRESENTS ALL OF CAPE TOWN

Colour, culture, cuisine and trust – this is what the ring represents. Mimicking Shimansky’s Table Mountain Ring, this new beauty has a symbol of the ocean as well. “It showcases more than just the mountain Cape Town is famous for, but the city as a whole,” says Giselle Esau, executive head of brand and marketing at Table Mountain Cableway.

You see the skyline of Table Mountain, then you have the shoreline of the sea connecting as two bands come together with “Cape Town” engraved into the ring.

TAILORED TO ALL TASTES AND BUDGETS

Everyone will find a ring that suits them, no matter your gender, style or budget. It comes in silver as well as 14 carat yellow, white or rose gold. There are 3 settings, plain (with no diamond), Swiss (one diamond stud) and pavé (a full row of diamond studs). Each setting has a different price, and there are two versions to choose from.

“When will I wear it? Probably all the time because it’s such an easy, almost casual but still sassy and classy ring,” says multimedia personality Tarryn Kay Trussel van Louw (@tkskingdom).

YOU CAN ONLY BUY IT IN CAPE TOWN STORES

Founder Yair Shimansky started selling jewellery at a flea-market 30 years ago and has a vast knowledge of all things diamond, Tanzanite, platinum, gold and silver. There are a few Shimansky stores here and in New York, but you can only buy this ring at the store in Cape Town. Decorated in classic white, grey and black marble tile with lavish couches and chairs, the luxurious store at the V&A Waterfront is an entire experience on its own.

LOCALS LOVE IT: COMMENTS FROM INSTAGRAM

This is what our readers had to say when we posted the launch of the ring: “Elegance with perfection,” commented Mpho Khoza, and “the ideal reminder of home”, according to Kate Ashman. Watch our reel of the ring launch at the Norval Foundation

“I love that no matter where in the world you are, you will always have Cape Town right there with you,” says Mandi Jarman, sales and marketing manager of City Sightseeing at the launch itself.
