Winchester Mansions is the leading environmental tourism hotel

Winchester Mansions in Cape Town has been singled out as one of South Africa's leading environmental tourism hotels.

Winchester Mansions, Cape Town's leading beachfront boutique hotel, has been singled out as one of South Africa's leading environmental tourism hotels at the annual Imvelo Responsible Tourism Awards 2005.

South Africa's only environmental tourism awards, presented for the fourth time this year, the Imvelo awards honour members of the tourism and hospitality industry who have implemented sustainable economic, social and environmental practices. These prestigious awards are presented by the Federated Hospitality Association of South Africa (FEDHASA) and the Department of Water Affairs and Forestry.

One of many factors which qualifies
Winchester Mansions as a commendable representative of Responsible Tourism is its ongoing support of project Streetsmart, which assists The Homestead and Ons Plek (service providers for street children).

The Winchester Mansions hotel also backs Learn to Live, a nonformal educational programme for street children. Furthermore, ten percent of all proceeds from the children's menu at the Winchester Mansions hotel's signature restaurant, Harveys at the Mansions, is given to the Red Cross Children's Hospital.

All waste paper is donated to the Oasis Association for recycling, illustrating a steadfast commitment to protecting the environment.

Pauline Burmeister, Junior Assistant Front Office Manager at Winchester Mansions, prepared the proposal, illustrating the devotion of this charming hotel towards improving and developing the hospitality industry in South Africa.

Winchester Mansions is one of six esteemed establishments lauded for its achievements and selected as a finalist for the category of overall winner for Responsible Tourism.
