As per tradition the Kenilworth Racecourse hosts the sensational annual J&B Met in January, one of the three largest horse races in Mzansi

The annual horse race tradition of the J&B MET started about 200 years ago when English soldiers tried to impress their lady friends by inviting them to come and watch them race their horses at Kenilworth.

Today the J&B Met is one of South Africa’s biggest horse racing events with over 50 000 spectators attending yearly from all over the country.

The final field of the 2008 J&B Met includes Pocket Power, the winner of the 2007 J&B Met, and the L'Omarins Queen's Plate. It will have a challenge to win it again, although the horse is half way having won the L'Omarins Queens Plate again already.

The Final field of the 2008 J&B MET will feature South Africa's best racing horses with the names like Succesfull Bidder, Wonder Lawn, Our Giant, and 2007 Durban July Winner 'Hunting Tower' will be competing for this year's J&B MET title.

Whether you go to dress and impress, bet on horses and enjoy the races or just party the day away with your friends, the J&B Met is definitely one of the biggest fashion and horse racing events in South Africa where you’ll want to be seen.

Date: Saturday, 26 January 2008
Time: Gates open from 10h00 onwards. It is recommended to arrive on hour before start of event (12h30)
Parking: Parking tickets can be bought when you arrive.
Price: R125 (General ticket gives you access to Kenilworth Racecourse only).

Included in the price is a R10 betting voucher and a J&B Met Race card. A contribution from each ticket sold will be going towards funding the Kenilworth Conservation Area.

Ticket Sales: Tickets for the 2008 J&B Met will be on sale from 18 January 2008. Unfortunately there will be no pass-out tickets.

Theme for the 2008 J&B Met is Connect Couture. (Hint: think plums, patterns and metallics…purple hats, spotty ties and shiny shoes…)
