No Single-Use Plastics Allowed At This Surfing, Yoga & Live Music Beach Fest

Surfers to yogis, hippies to live music lovers, this beach festival at Surfers Corner is warming up the first day of winter

Make your way to Muizenberg for this surf, beach, food and music festival at Surfers Corner on 2 June 2018.

The all-day family festival celebrates local surf culture at the beach, where it all started. The first recorded ridden wave in South Africa was in Muizenberg, by Heather Price in 1919. That’s why Logjam has no divisions in their surfing event either, guys, girls, ballies and groms are all welcome and encouraged to take part.

If you’re not a creature of the ocean, there’ll be a ton of other great stuff to get up to at the festival. There’ll be some beach yoga and a beach clean up, as well as an after-party with banging local acts and an even bigger venue than last year, The Left Bank on Muizenberg Main Road.

Logjam encourages guests to lift club/cycle/use the train to reduce their carbon footprint. All vendors will be using biodegradable packaging and no single-use plastics are permitted.

Internationally acclaimed, Sustainable Surf, has awarded the Logjam Beach Festival with a #BlueEvent status for their environmental considerations. They’re the first surf event in Africa to have this distinction.

LOGJAM BEACH FESTIVAL FULL HIGHLIGHTS LINE UP

• Longboarding Pro Contest - the winner goes to Mexico to compete as a wildcard in the MexiLogFest
• Anything-But-3 Public surf off. Open entry to anybody with a surfboard
• Upcycled Mr & Mrs outfit competition via SEALAND Gear
• Surf Therapy interact with Waves for Change & Inclusive Surfing SA.
• Surf Market large bedouin tent with food & drink traders, Surf Art exhibition, vintage boards and a chill area
• Real Surfer Art Exhibition 7 local surfer/artists will be exhibiting Upcycled surfboards that have been turned into artworks, and available to purchase on a silent auction. Also watch out for the live art piece on the day, a giant Albatross sculpture made from trash found on the day to highlight the plight of our oceans
• Skate jam The Deep South’s first Standalone Skateboard event to run through the afternoon
• Ramps, rails and funboxes
• Beach yoga & cleanup  - a free yoga for surfers class will be given in the tent to show how the two disciplines benefit each other
• An after party with a bigger venue and high energy bands,  Half Price, West Coast Wolves, Skeleton Coast & Steezy Sawyer

Prices vary according to event. The after party costs R90 at the door.
