Two-time Emmy nominee, Comics Choice Award Winner and Cape Town native Loyiso Gola is set to tickle your funny bone at the Baxter Theatre on Friday, 1 and Saturday, 2 December. The funnyman returns to the Mother City with “Unlearning”, a new show that guaranteed to have the audience in stitches.
In the new show, Gola invites the audience to question everything they currently know about politics, history, sexism, and race. Besides his comedy shows, this entertainer is making a name for himself both locally and internationally as something of a TV personality too as he recently starred in rapper 50 Cent’s 50 Central show in the US. The Gugulethu-born comedian can also claim co-producer, writer, and host among his titles!
Gola says Cape Town audiences are always a thrill to entertain. “I enjoy performing in Cape Town because I know the city so well. I dig the city's culture and vibe – from a steak Gatsby to the taxis.”

Loyiso Gola is certainly one of the country’s most renowned comedians and even has his own show on eNCA and ETV, called Late Night News With Loyiso Gola. His show airs weekly and is a satirical late-night news series that has a steady, and growing, audience. Kagiso Lediga and Mpheng Morobe are co-writers for this show, which has been running for a very impressive 11 seasons! Gola and his crew of loved South African comedians, make weeknights bearable one show at a time.
Are you interested in other comedy shows happening in Cape Town, or restaurants at The Baxter theatre? We also have Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts for a true summer experience.
