From social distancing to disinfecting regularly, here’s a checklist of what should be done
As we enter level 2 lockdown, even more businesses are reopening. However, many of the regulations around ensuring safety are still in place like wearing a mask and staying 1.5m apart. This is what businesses in customer service and the beauty industry have to do for your safety.
STAFF HAVE TO FOLLOW STRICT REGULATIONS
Staff must adhere to certain protocols and practices in order to keep businesses open. Cloth masks need to be used at all times, and regular hand washing is a must. So is the cleaning and disinfecting of areas and equipment. Social distancing also needs to be followed between customers and staff whenever possible.
THE NO.1 RULE: EVERYONE, WASH YOUR HANDS
A hand sanitising station for customers needs to be provided before they enter the premises. Remember to sanitise your hands after handling cash, and establishments need to encourage contactless payment where possible.
EVERYTHING MUST BE SANITISED
Premises must be cleaned before and after use, and businesses have to disinfect common areas before and after serving each customer. Equipment and tools must be sanitised or washed before and after each use, too.
All bottles with products must be wiped down with a 70% alcohol solution after each customer as well as at the end and beginning of each business day. Plus, fresh towels must be provided, and the windows and doors must be kept open to ensure good ventilation.
PPE FOR ALL STAFF MEMBERS
Masks and face shields must be provided for and worn by staff at all times, and face shields must be cleaned after serving each customer. Customers are also required to wear a mask. Staff aprons and gloves must be changed after serving a customer, and aprons need to be washed with soap and water.
SOCIAL DISTANCING WILL BE IMPLEMENTED
Customers are encouraged to pre-book appointments in order to avoid long queues. When standing in a queue, customers need to maintain 1.5m distance between each other. Salons must only allow customers inside if the social distancing can be maintained.
BUSINESSES WILL KEEP TRACK OF CUSTOMERS
Any employees above the age of 60, or those with comorbidities, must be discouraged from working, while any employees with flu-like symptoms should not be allowed to enter the salon.
Business owners must maintain a register of customers who enter the salon each day for contact tracing, and a booking system for appointments must be used. Beverages or food are not allowed to be offered.
