Make sure you stick to your resolution to be more active this year by trying something a little different… fire dancing! Join a Learn to Poi class, presented by Uflowpia, in Muizenberg on Saturday, 27 January 2018.
This beginner's course in performance flow art – or poi – is the ideal way to familiarise yourself with the fundamentals of this art form. You’ll feel like a poi pro in no time, with the course extending to the intermediate level of fire dance routines.
For the uninitiated, poi incorporates influences from dance and meditation, with the element of fire adding the exciting twist to the tale. This ancient Maori dance form has become significantly popular today, both as an alluring hobby and as a great way to de-stress and connect with others. Poi is, in essence, a performance art which allows the body and mind to flow in harmony.
TICKETS TO LEARN TO POI 2018 IN MUIZENBERG
At only R160/p for a one-day, drop-in course, this is a must-try activity. Learn to Poi also happens on Saturday, 3, Saturday, 10 and Saturday, 17 February. It’s R660/p if you are interested in the full course.
