Peeking its head after a four-year hiatus, Leap Day is back and it falls on a Saturday, so there’s another reason to celebrate. A day of organised mayhem ensues at The Conservatory restaurant and The Cellars-Hohenort Hotel gardens in Constantia on Saturday, 29 February.
HIGH TEA FOR HATTERS
After a refreshing welcome drink, high tea will be served. The Cellars-Hohenort’s high teas are always generous affairs and you can expect the tables to be laden with bite-sized treats. The theme is chocolate so there’ll be a decadent array of luxurious cocoa-based goodies.
GARDEN GAMES
Guests are invited to play some whimsical Alice in Wonderland-themed outdoor party games such as the blindfolded edition of pinning the smile to the Cheshire Cat and Queen of Cards flamingo croquet. If you prefer to hold onto your hat and hate winning prizes (who are you?), we’d recommend sitting out the hat throwing game.
WACKY DRESS UP
The event is suitable for all ages and this zany high tea is just the kind of thing you’d find down the rabbit hole. Dress up according to the Mad Hatter theme. There are prizes for the smallest, largest and maddest hats, so get creative.
SUPPORTED BY A DELUXE HOMEWARE BRAND
The event is hosted in association with Carrol Boyes, known for its high-quality tableware and home accessories. Each guest will depart with a surprise gift before returning to reality.
THE BEAUTIFUL VENUE
The Cellars-Hohenort Hotel is a five-star destination located in the Constantia Valley. High tea takes place in The Conservatory restaurant where tables will be adorned with beaded African craft sculptures by Monkeybiz, a Carrol Boyes’ charity beneficiary.
ATTENDING THE LEAP DAY MAD HATTER HIGH TEA
Tickets cost R350 per person and can be booked online. For queries, contact the organiser directly on reservations@collectionmcgrath.com.
