Kong, the city’s hottest new bar and grill in De Waterkant
Kong Bar & Grill, open in De Waterkant, is more than a new after-work drinks spot. Located in the electric, bite-sized piece of the city, it has a glam retro interior that makes you want to sit down and enjoy a drink (or two), and is already popular as a gathering place for dinner with friends and for celebrations.

WHAT’S SO SPECIAL?
There’s a rooftop deck, TVs for sports matches and two areas for dinner. And of course, specials. Get two-for-one on all beers and house wine every day from 12pm-1:30pm and 4:30pm-6pm. They also have a pasta-of-the-week special – enjoy a pasta and a glass of house wine for R85pp. Plus, it’s the place to be on Thursday nights. Dinner, a party and a top guest DJ are what you can expect – with bubbly and canapes, and strictly cocktail attire only, it’s the perfect excuse to dress up ahead of the weekend.

SO, WHAT IS IT?
First, the food. There’s a wide variety of bistro-style dishes with Asian, Eastern and European influences. Tapas-like beef and mozzarella taquitos and pork spring rolls, Asian beef market salad and black mushroom burgers or prawn linguine are some of what you can expect on the menu. Kong uses local, seasonal and fresh produce.
The interior boasts lush and exciting decor, with zebra print couches and a jungle of plants around every corner. With extravagant prints and a wall of plants and hanging flowers on the outside deck, you’re going to want to be Instagram-ready for this one.

CITY’S NEW BAR
The general manager says they hope the new vibey bar becomes everyone’s favourite local hangout. “Kong is your local neighbourhood institution, we cater for all your dining, drinking and entertainment needs. Our friendly and efficient staff will assist in creating the perfect atmosphere for all private and corporate functions.”
