KAMERS/Makers: The leading launchpad for local makers

6-day showcase of South Africa’s fashion & design artisans

KAMERS/Makers is the place to discover our most promising creative entrepreneurs. Each of the 170+ makers is carefully selected for originality and innovation, showing distinctive products (many of which are first to debut) like funky reversible jackets, hand crafted leather bags, and quirky lobster tablecloths. 

This season’s Cape Town edition, happening from Tuesday, 28 October to Sunday, 2 November 2025, will be at the beautiful Allée Bleue Wine Estate with food trucks and beautiful wines.

CELEBRATION OF SOUTH AFRICAN TALENT 

What began as a small home-based showcase in Stellenbosch, where local artisans sold their handmade creations, has grown into one of South Africa’s most celebrated platforms for creative talent. Each year, KAMERS/Makers markets draw nearly 60 000 visitors and generate more than R100 million for South Africa’s creative economy. 

This October, KAMERS/Makers’ Cape Town event will open at a brand new venue: Allée Bleue wine estate between Franschhoek, Stellenbosch and Paarl. It’s dog-friendly with beautiful lawns and a kids' play zone.

OVER 170 LOCAL ARTISANS   

Over 170 local makers, including 40 first-timers, will all bring unique designs that you won’t find at any other market.

If you’re looking for something to take your breath away, look out for the whimsical reversible jackets from F8 TOPS, each one hand-sewn and covered in hand-drawn prints. You’ll also find stylish homeware from By John, famous for their quirky lobster tablecloths and cooler bags, and Ancient Spirit’s ever-popular clothing range, known for its intricate details.

Sak.Sak is debuting playful new additions to its bag range, all made from breathable fabric. There’s everything from a lipsak (lip bag) and vliegsak (travel bag), to a plantsak (plant bag).

Meanwhile, Campbell Armoury is showcasing its bespoke leather bags, and The Lollipop League’s edible art lollipops are a must-see (and taste). The edible art is made from ingredients sourced from around the world, including some grown in the founder’s garden.

NOT TO MISS: 10 UPCOMING ENTREPRENEURS

You have to look out for the 10 finalists of the Master Maker Accelerator partnership with FNB. Each finalist is competing for R100 000 in seed funding, a testament to KAMERS/Makers’ mission to uplift local creatives, foster entrepreneurship, and grow the local maker economy.  

Some of the finalists include Burst Botanicals, which creates healthy food products from locally-sourced produce. Their range has infuser granules, dried fruits, and natural flavourings.

FOOD, PARKING & TICKETS 

There’ll be a bunch of food and drink vendors, and between browsing stalls and meeting makers, you can wander over to the wine farm’s restaurant for a wine tasting. Families can also spread out picnic-style on the lawns with snacks from the stalls.

Tickets start at R110 for a single-day pass, with free entry for children under 18. Multi-day pass tickets are R150. And all tickets come with a free Media24 subscription. 

There is secure free parking on the estate, and visitors arriving via the Franschhoek Wine Tram (Navy Line) get complimentary access to the show, a bonus stop on their wine-tasting route.
