Since level 4 of lockdown began, restaurants have been allowed to deliver hot food, which has been great news for the lazy cooks among us. Takeaways always hit the spot, but if you’re catering for a truly special occasion, these celebrity chefs will bring some gourmet flair to your door. So get out the good silverware and welcome Luke Dale Roberts, Peter Templehoff, and Kobus van de Merwe to your dinner table.
LUKE DALE ROBERTS’ GOURMET HAMPERS
Choose between three gourmet lockdown hampers created by The Test Kitchen owner - a weekly basket of luxury goods that you can use to create your own masterful meals. The hampers contain items such as slow-smoked ocean salmon fillet, “Joël Robuchon” mashed potato, and potted beetroot. Expect braised lamb shank pie, salt-baked celeriac and truffle salad, and Wagyu ribeye in the premium hamper. You can place your orders on the Luke Dale Roberts website.
KOBUS VAN DER MERWE’S FOUR-COURSE DINNER
The award-winning Wolfgat chef has created an interactive hamper for two that includes seasonal snacks (such as piekelvis, snoek tartlet, stuffed soutslaai leaves) a main course of Verlorenvlei lamb, mushroom and kelp, plus a DIY dessert for you to bake at home. The restaurant is also famous for its views over the Paternoster Bay, so included in the hamper is a map of the Strandveld, an acrylic painting of the view created by Van der Merwe, and a Wolfgat winter playlist to listen to while dining. The Wolfgat At Home box costs R800 and can be ordered from the Wolfgat website.

PETER TEMPELHOFF’S FAMILY MEALS
The trio of Peter Tempelhoff, Ashley Moss and Jennifer Hugé presents FYN From Home, which consists of two menu options available for delivery. The first is the FYN Experience: a five-course menu of inventive dishes such as grilled springbok loin with African polenta and “camembert” cheesecake. The second option is the FYN family menu. Expect delicious items like Boran Beef Wellington with truffle jus, and strawberry crumble for dessert. The meals start from R295pp. View the menu on the FYN website.
