French Connection: The Huguenot Memorial Museum in Franschhoek
36 years after the Dutch settled in the Cape, the Huguenots settled here in the former Oliphantshoek...Franschhoek
36 years after the Dutch settled in the Cape, the Huguenots settled here in Oliphantshoek, Dutch for Elephant corner, which soon became Franschhoek, Dutch for French Corner.
In addition to the galleries of the Main Building, portraying Huguenot History, the museum also has an Annexe in which exhibitions on Franschhoek and Huguenot families are displayed.
The Annexe, built in 1976, also houses the museum auditorium, research centre and souvenir shop.
