Twice a year, the world-class Everard Read Gallery in the V&A Waterfront hosts the Cubicle Series, an exhibition that gives a small group of artists a platform to exhibit smaller bodies of works and installations. It runs for two weeks and the latest edition, curated by Emma Vandermerwe, takes place from 5 – 17 August 2019 at the Everard Read’s CIRCA gallery. There will also be a walk-about with the artists on Saturday 17 August at 10:30am.
WHAT YOU CAN SEE AT THE EXHIBITION
This edition of Cubicle showcases fresh bodies of work by four up-and-coming artists from SA and one from Finland, and includes sculpture, photography, painting and installation art. You can also preview some of the art online.
MEET THE ARTISTS
On Saturday 17 August at 10:30am, you can join the artists for a walkabout. You don’t have to book or pay and there will be a discussion about the work on display between some of the artists involved along with art curator, Lena Sulik.
ATTENDING THE CUBICLE SERIES EXHIBITION
The exhibition is on from 5 to 17 August at Everard Read’s CIRCA Gallery in the Waterfront. For more information, contact the organisers on +27(0)21 418 4527 or ctgallery@everard.co.za. Sign up to the gallery mailing list to stay up-to-date about upcoming projects. There is limited secure parking on Portswood Ridge, otherwise, the V&A Waterfront parking garages are all nearby.
ABOUT THE GALLERY
Everard Read lays claim to being South Africa’s oldest gallery. It exhibits modern and contemporary art by local and international mid-career and emerging artists at galleries in Joburg, London, Franschhoek and Cape Town. Everard Read’s CIRCA gallery on Portswood Ridge was built in 1889. Originally a classical double-storey Victorian home, the heritage building retains a number of the original characteristics.
