Watershed Concerts in Cape Town

Local ‘Indigo Girl’ rock stars perform live in the Western Cape as part of their 2015 SA summer tour

During the 2015 summer, acclaimed South African rock band Watershed is once again making a splash on Mzansi shores. The four-man outfit is saluting the warm season by touring the country and performing live at various locations, including a number of scenic spots in the Western Cape between Tuesday, 6 and Saturday, 17 January 2015.

Since its inception back in June 1998, the popular ensemble, which is led by singer-songwriter Craig Hinds, has travelled a long, winding road that has taken the group from relative obscurity to international fame. Though it was the band’s signature single ‘Indigo Girl’ that earned them overseas recognition in 2002, it’s the boys’ commitment to beautiful acoustics, captivating lyrics and powerful performances that has ensured their continued success and has set the stage for the release of five highly praised albums (they all received gold or platinum status).

The fact that the South African Music Award-winning group has played alongside the likes of Beyoncé, Bono, Johnny Clegg and The Corrs is testament to its great talent and yet another reason why you should definitely catch the ensemble in action this January. No doubt, Watershed will colour its Cape Town shows with an assortment of its most loved, piano-driven classics (think tracks like ‘Shine on Me’, ‘Letters’, ‘Don’t Give Up’ and, of course, ‘Indigo Girl’ ), but fans can also look forward to hearing a few new songs.

The concerts will take place in Durbanville (at Die Boer dinner theatre), Noordhoek (at family-friendly restaurant Café Roux) and Elgin (at Paul Cluver’s outdoor amphitheatre), and the three different locations give audiences the chance to soak up the group’s sounds amidst varied surrounds.
