Knysna, but not the Knysna you think

What do poets, comedians, beatbox masters, hip-hoppers, song birds musicians and sometimes even dancers do on the last Wednesday of every month in Cape Town?
They take their place on the Verses stage of course.
As you know, Verses takes place on the last Wednesday of every month at Baran's Theatre Restaurant in Burg Street (just off Greenmarket Square) in Cape Town.
Each event features a poet/spoke word artist, a live band and an increasingly popular open mic session.
The latter often enjoys spontaneous collaborations and it’s not unusual to see a poet jamming with a guitarist who is backed by a human beat box.
Verses founder and Spoken Word artist has this to say: “People are never quite sure what to expect when first coming to Verses, nervous thoughts of high school poetry running through their minds coupled with a slight unease at the unknown. However, within the first half an hour without failure, I’ll look around and see nothing but entertainment and quite often, awe!”
The food at Baran't is wonderful (and halaal!) so why not arrive a bit earlier and enjoy dinner before the performances start? Alternatively, you're welcome to eat while watching.
Come be inspired.
