Trails in Motion Film Festival

Catch a selection of the world’s best trail running films on the big screen.

If you’re a fan of the outdoors and adventure, particularly trail running, then you’re in for a treat next year. The Trails in Motion Film Festival is coming to Cape Town in January 2016, bringing the finest selection of trail and ultra running films and inspirational stories to our shores. The tour schedule will be released early next year.

Endurance, personal discovery, adventure, community and conservation are the main themes at the fourth annual event, with each film offering new insight into why people choose to run some of the most beautiful – and challenging – trails around the world. Seven films have been selected to hit the big screen, from a pool of over 40 submissions.

The headliner This Is Your Day (by Myles Smythe) documents the lives of elite athletes Rob Krar and Caroline Boller, as well as “Ultrarunning Magazine” editor Karl Hoagland, as they prepare for the 2015 Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run.

The 2015 Trails in Motion Film Festival reached over 14 000 people from 26 countries with 167 screenings. "Our on-going objective with the Trails In Motion Film Festival is to not only present trail and ultra running film makers with the opportunity to showcase their work, but also to create a unique community experience for the thousands of people who attend screenings around the world,” says founder and Tour Director James Hallett. “What's important to us is that our audiences get to socialise with like-minded people, away from the typical race-day environment, and in doing so leave with a true sense of inspiration and excitement about the sport," he said.
