The Rhebokskloof Dog Walk and Fun Day

Take your pampered pooch for a vineyard stroll to raise money to foster and re-home neglected animals

What could be better than taking a whimsical wander through the Winelands with your best friend by your side? Make sure you bound out of bed early on Sunday, 24 May 2015, so you can make it to Rhebokskloof Wine Estate in time for the popular dog walk, which starts at 8:30am. This family fun day will get your tail wagging, especially as the proceeds raised from it will go towards the Drakenstein Animal Rescue Organisation in Paarl.

This rescue organisation is doing wonderful work in saving, fostering and re-homing neglected and abandoned animals. Although small, it’s been instrumental in working with local vets to pilot an animal sterilisation programme, which is ensuring that other unwanted animals don’t end up on the streets.

With this worthy cause in mind, take a moment from your busy weekend to have some old-fashioned fun at one of the area’s most pristine estates – your four-legged friend will thank you as well! There will be a few different walking routes to trek, along with an awesome treasure hunt with hidden treats for your hound to sniff out. Aside from the early morning meander, there will also be a range of cool competitions to participate in, along with lucky draws, fabulous food stalls and an informative demonstration by the K9 Search and Rescue organisation.

Not only is Rhebokskloof the perfect venue for your pet, but it’s a great spot for little ones as well! Let your kiddies loose on jumping castles, the trampoline, jungle gym and pony rides, while you take five and enjoy the scenic serenity of your surrounds. What’s more,  the estate is  ideal for lunch while overlooking the sprawling lawns and dam.
