The 9th annual Youth Jazz Festival brings some of Cape Town's hottest jazz talents to stage from 4th to 5th June 2011. The event sets an exceptionally high standard, whilst providing a platform for young jazz musicians to show off their wares.
Cape Town jazz legend Ian Smith will be conducting the Delft Big Band, which has played to great acclaim at high-profile events such as the Cape Town Big Band festival. The Delft Big Band is an initiative by the Department of Social Development and NGO Cape Outdoor Adventure Service and Training.
Under the directorship of Ian Smith the programme strives to equip vulnerable youths with life skills via music. More than 100 youth participate in the programme, with the Delft Big Band comprised of the more advanced young musicians.
Sharing the stage with the Delft Big Band are young soloists already making splashes in the jazz scene. These include Lorenzo Blignaut on trumpet (19), Matthew Ehrenreich (18) on sax, Dayna Pearce (20) on clarinet, Mark Williams (22) on guitar, Adelia Douw (17) and Sandile Gontsana (26) on vocals.

4 June @ 19:30 – 22:00 | 5 June @ 16:00 – 18:30
Please note that seating is unreserved.
